Well done to everyone!
18 Jun 2018
On Wednesday 13th June, Penygarn school football team traveled to Cwmbran Stadium as they were involved in The Newport County Cup. Fourteen teams were entered and split into two groups of seven with the top four teams in each group progressing to the knockout stages. After four emphatic wins and two losses Penygarn progressed to the next round after finishing second in the group. In the quarter finals we met Padre Pio. The game ended nil-nil and went to penalties, unfortunately Penygarn were knocked out. It was a great run by the team who played excellent football throughout. Great progress has been made by the team who have reached the knockout stages of the previous two tournaments, and reaching the semi-finals of the Gwent Police cup. We will look forward to the next tournament and hopefully progressing further.
Outstanding Performance at Torfaen Dance Festival
23 May 2018
Our children have done it once again, they've given all they've got with an amazing performance on the third evening of the Torfaen Dance Festival. This is the first year the festival has been held and it provides the opportunity for schools to showcase their dance skills, alongside raising money for charity. They performed to Little Mix 'Word Up' brilliantly and were met with rapturous applause. Dylan from Year 5 was highly commended for his performance and awarded a Torfaen Dance Festival T-shirt. The event was well attended by staff and parents, and we are all already looking forward to next year's event! A picture of the team has been added to full story which you can see by clicking on the news title.

Congratulations to our boys!
18 May 2018
Penygarn versus Griffithstown primary was a great game of competitive rugby showcasing some exceptional young talent. Throughout the thrilling fixture both teams played some fantastic rugby, eventually resulting in a hard fought 2 tries to nil win for Penygarn. This was Penygarn’s first win of the season and one that will be enjoyed for a very long time. All of the boys played should feel proud of their performance but two boys, in particular, stand out: Kye and Kai. Keep working hard! We've added photos to the gallery section of the website.

The pupils are then creating, marketing and selling a product they are in the process of developing which they describe as “A ‘must have’ for every shopper in the town.” Tesco store has kindly made a donation of £50 to ‘kick-start’ the project. The product is soon to be on sale in Pontypool market so keep an eye for further information.

We've had the most lovely feedback from one of the foodbanks that received donations from our reverse advent calendar project in December last year. Thank you again to all that gave, you really have made a difference. "Thank you to you, the staff and the pupils of Penygarn Community Primary School for your kind donation of 17.2 kg of food to us here at Newport Foodbank. We have seen a big increase in people accessing the Foodbank during December and January so your donations have gone a long way to helping needy people in our area."
